Why I became a celebrant
I love my work as a celebrant. I enjoy the people I meet and the venues in which I perform. But my greatest joy is delivering a ceremony that is sophisticated, professional and intimate. Being involved in the seminal moments of peoples’ lives, be they wedding ceremonies, baby namings or funerals, is a privilege and an honour. Letters and thankyou cards from couples, parents or families of a deceased constantly remind me of the enormous responsibility I have to uphold my standards of quality, sincerity and personal care.
Besides working as a celebrant, I care for my two granddaughters two days a week. This keeps me busy, fit and young at heart. When I am not child minding or working on a ceremony, I attend Sydney University where I am about to finish my Master of Arts degree. Writing is definitely a passion for me, whether it is putting together an order of service for a ceremony, helping a couple write their personal wedding vows or writing a major university essay, each task has my full attention and dedication. If I am not writing I will be reading. My dream is to one day have something I have written published, even if it is only distributed to all my family members. But my husband is counting on a No. 1 seller!
